THE VIRTUAL VIRTUOSO CONCERT SERIES
ST. IGNATIUS PARISH, SAN FRANCISCO
KEVIN NAVARRO, ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
2020 - 2021
The "Virtual Virtuoso Concert Series" was created in May of 2020 at St. Ignatius Parish, just a few months after strict COVID-19 restrictions were implemented across the country. With the closure of nearly all concert halls and performance venues, the performing arts community suffered devastating financial blows as most performance opportunities were canceled or postponed. In the "Virtual" setting, St. Ignatius has been able to provide very safe, creative and fun opportunities for local musicians to once again engage with a live audience. I was fortunate enough to host the first concert last May, and since then we've produced 15 "Virtual Virtuoso Concerts" featuring incredibly talented educators, members of San Francisco Symphony & Opera, and even a Grammy winner!
What started out in May as a fun and creative solution to keep performing artists connected with an audience amidst the pandemic, Virtual Virtuoso Concert Series developed into an incredibly thoughtful expression of not only music...but also what we can accomplish as a community. I am very proud to work alongside an incredibly talented and focused group of musicians, teachers, and neighbors who are willing to make time for rehearsal every week, provide each other with support and feedback, and most importantly deliver world class music to our growing online community and virtual audience!

PRAYERS IN OPERA
We are thrilled to present our third installment of the "Virtual Virtuoso" concert series. Join us September 17th at 7:30pm PDT as we relive some of Opera's most dramatic stories, and how their characters express their love, faith and prayer through the most iconic arias in the history of the art form. We are equally thrilled to host three of San Francisco's incredibly talented Sopranos to help bring these stories to life. Cheryl Cain, C.A. Jordan and Michelle Cipollone will join Kevin Navarro on piano, and perform scenes narrated by Franca Gargiulo in an evening of music that has inspired audiences for generations.
